A Rollit Shutter is a product that is designed to be installed on the outside of a window, door, counter top, patio or any general opening and to be operated from the inside, either by mechanical or electric operation.

The functions and benefits of roller shutters are outlined in the Solutions section of our website, but briefly include:

• Temperature Control - can deflect up to 87% of heat radiation through a window or alternatively prevents heat from escaping.

• Security - Provides a visual and physical barrier to intruders. Prevents burglaries, break-ins and vandalism without the need for fixed bars or grills which can trap occupants. In the case of fire the shutters can be quickly raised for a safe exit.

• Noise Reduction - Independent tests show that shutters can reduce external noise by up to 50%.

• Storm Protection - Protects windows and doors from hail, flying debris and heavy rain. Rollit Industries Shutter Systems have been cyclone rated by the Cyclone Testing Station at James Cook University, Townsville in Queensland, Australia. Since 1975 there has not been a report of a single window broken in a storm, which was protected by one of our Shutter Systems.

• Energy Conservation - Results in a substantial savings in heating and cooling costs all year round.

• Glare Control - By adjusting the position of a Rollit Shutter System, it is possible to control/filter the amount of light entering a room.

Rollit manufactures, nine (9) different profiles for window roller shutters. These different profiles are outlined as follows:

Standard Profile (Unperforated):
Series 1 & 2

The Series 1 & 2 Profiles are a Standard Profile roll-formed, foam filled profile with perforations along the hook of the profile to allow light and ventilation control. The profile is formed from a pre-painted aluminium coil and is sold in eight (8) standard colours. Custom made colours can also be produced at no cost penalty providing that there are sufficient quantities.

The Rollit Industries profiles have been specifically designed for Australian conditions and the following have advantages over competitors profiles:

• The aluminium gauge (the thickness of the aluminium skin) is up to 40% higher than many competitors products and the aluminium also has approximately 8% higher Ultimate Tensile Strength compared to imported material used by competitors. These two factors mean that Rollit Industries' profiles are substantially stronger and more impact resistant than other profiles available.

• The profiles have been designed with a longer hook which allows larger perforations for maximum ventilation and light control. All other profiles on the market typically have 40% less available perforated area per square metre.

This is an extruded aluminium profile with "grill" shaped perforations which allow maximum light penetration and visibility while maintaining high strength. Shutters using these profiles are ideal for light commercial applications such as counter tops and shop fronts as well as the domestic window. These profiles can also be intermixed with the Series 1 & 2 Standard Profile to allow greater ventilation and light penetration where required. They can be powder coated any standard colour as required.

Rollamesh Profile

This is an extruded aluminium profile with no perforations which is mainly used on commercial or industrial applications which require a combination of high strength and minimum weight. Can be powder coated any standard colour.

Rollashade Profile

This is a single skin roll-formed profile which is punched with tiny holes to create a see through effect. It is designed to minimise heat and glare without obstructing your view and is ideal for internal installation in offices instead of vertical blinds. Can be powder coated any standard colour.

Same profile as Rollascreen profile above but without the holes.

Rollascreen Profile

Rollasafe (Unperforated)

Heavy duty extruded aluminium profile with an extra long hook which is perforated to allow maximum light penetration, visibility and ventilation. Used for long spans and maximum security or storm protection. Can be powder coated any standard colour.

Heavy duty extruded aluminium profile with a standard hook and no perforations. Strongest profile in the range with the highest cyclone rating. Can be powder coated any standard colour.

Rollasafe Profile
(Perforated)

Hollow extruded aluminium profile designed to incorporate a key operated locking system. This profile can be intermixed with all other profiles (except Rollascreen and Rollashade) or can be used on its own to make up a heavy duty shutter.
